Does the program provide a safe place to live with caring adult supervision?
Yes. This is one of the hallmarks of our program. Live-in staff, on the same floor as our students – similar to a college dorm.
Are there any issues related to the COVID-19?
We currently have no positive or presumptive positive cases. As long as our community is safe and we are providing appropriate support for our students, to meet their needs, we will remain open.
How are goals developed, related to student issues? Do they help delineate them?
Yes. Goals are co-created between staff and student.
Is Coaching/therapy provided to support student’s goals?
We provide individual life coaching. Therapy will occur outside of our program. But, we can help set that up, if it is needed.
What does the staffing look like during less structured times—evenings? Overnights?
Some evenings are structured by design, some of the activities are more organic and the community comes together to create them. One of the objectives is for each young adult to learn how to create a structure that fits their own lifestyle.
Are male and female students on the same floor?
Yes. We are a co-ed program. Everyone lives in single-gender apartments. All the apartments are on the same floor.
What are the typical profiles of students in this program?
Students who will benefit from our summer program are those interested in starting college or returning to college with increased skills in the areas of independent living, executive functioning, self-advocacy, emotional resilience and academic proficiency.
Is there an option for a student to get a job or volunteer as opposed to taking classes?
Given the “college-preparatory” nature of our program, we anticipate most of our students to be taking classes or something similar to college level instruction. Volunteer opportunities may be a part of the program, but given the short time frame of the model, part-time jobs may not be possible. Programming will take up most of every day; 9-5.
